Gatorland gives
you the chance to get up close and personal with one of Florida's most feared
predators. There's no way you can miss Gatorland's entrance when driving near
the attraction. The entrance itself is a gigantic alligator head sticking out
of the building.
Gatorland has two ticketing options for one day stays: The single day admission
covers basic entry to the park where you are able to view alligators as well as
other animals. Other than the personal sightseeing you are able to watch the
trainers "wrestle" the gators where they perform stunts and tricks such as
putting their heads in the alligator's mouth, pulling their hands out a split
second before the gator snaps, and more. You can also watch as the gators snap,
fight, and roar as the trainers toss raw chicken into the water and the gators
feed. If you're looking for more adventure in Gatorland you can upgrade to the
Grunt Pass where you can ride the Gatorland Express, and if you're daring
enough you can actually sit on the back of a 6 to 8 foot gator as a
photographer snaps your picture.
Once you are in the park you will begin to notice Gatorland's daring
attractions. If you have enough time an even better look at Gatorland is
through the Gator Night Shine Tour where you are armed with nothing but a
flashlight and a few hot-dogs in the dark of night-this is truly an amazing
experience. Without the light you can barely see and all you hear is constant
splashing and croaks but once you hit the switch you see angry orange eyes
reflecting off of the light chasing and fighting over every hot dog you throw
into the water. And finally for the most adventurous thrill seeking visitors is
the Trainer for a Day program where you become a trainer and carry out tasks
such as wrangling gators, feeding baby gators, assisting trainers and more. You
can have a photographer follow you around and capture every moment of this
activity so you can brag to your friends and family when you get home.
Along with
these major attractions Gatorland also has a few attractions for the kids and
the less daring visitors. Gator Gully's splash park was built in 2007, as a
fairly new addition to the park its very popular among the kids who love to
splash around during Florida's hot days. Alligators aren't the only animals in
Gatorland; you can step into Allie's Barnyard and find chickens, ducks, deer,
goats, sheep, and more. You are encouraged to pet these animals and even feed
them right out of your hand! Gatorland has a large collection of Western
Pacific/East Indies birds called Lorikeets you can view these vibrantly colored
creatures by visiting them in the Very Merry Aviary. Lorikeets love people and
will fly up to you and sit on your shoulder if you attract them with a cup of
Nectar. Another popular species of reptiles in Florida are snakes. Snakes of
Florida displays nearly every species of snakes found in Florida including the
Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake which is the largest venomous snake in Florida,
the only venomous water snake in Florida the Cottonmouth Water Moccasin, the
Coral Sake, and the Scarlet King Snake as well as many other species. There is
a designated walkway made for those who are deadly afraid of these animals
insuring that they can stay as far away from them as possible. The Gift Store
section of Gatorland is often the most visited at the park you can buy a wide
variety of items there from plush toys to alligator jerky.
With it's great
location and over 110 acres of wildlife and attractions Gatorland replicates
the natural outdoors. You can enjoy every part of being outdoors with the
safety and great guides to help you enjoy your trip.
Gatorland is a great place for kids not only can you amaze them by showing them
animals that are native to Florida you are also teaching them about the
environment and the animals in it. Gatorland is also a great learning
experience for adults as well. You can learn how to identify a dangerous Coral
Snake from its non-threatening look alike, how to train an alligator, how birds
migrate and act and more. Gatorland is the best way to view Alligators and
animals with the safety of professional trainers. If you and your family are
interested in wildlife and Florida's native animals and plants Gatorland is a
great place to have fun and learn at the same time.
